Yvonne F. (Kozul) Orlando, 89, of Chesterton, passed away on Thursday, May 22, 2025, at Valparaiso Care & Rehabilitation. She was born on November 5, 1935, in Chicago, IL, to the late John F. and Francis (Yurkas) Kozul.
Yvonne is survived by her children, Jennifer J. Ruman, and Jimmy J. Orlando; grandchildren, Stephanie J. and Nicholas J. Ruman, Sara L. and Sabrina E. Tamez along with their mother, Alicia Madeka, and Margeaux Y. Orlando along with her mother, Kathryn Orlando; great grandchildren, Ayla Clark, Logan James, Jaiden Orlando, and Camden, Carson, and Cassius Dunn; sister, Mary Kaufman; and a loving host of extended family, friends, and acquaintances.
In addition to her parents, Yvonne was preceded in death by her loving husband, James H. Orlando; son, Jeffrey J. Orlando; son-in-law, Richard Ruman; brother, Duke Kozul; sister, Rose (Chink) Milyavich; and brother-in-law, Jerry Kaufman.
Yvonne spent her life as a homemaker, enjoying time spent decorating houses, refurbishing and reupholstering furniture, and tending to flowers in her garden. She was also an avid lover of all cats and dogs, owning many beloved furry friends over the years. Most importantly, Yvonne enjoyed spending time with her close knit circle of friends and family as often as she could.
Yvonne will best be remembered as a storyteller, who enjoyed sharing conversations with others and had a wit about her that would make her stand out. She, along with all the love and joy she shared, will be dearly missed by those whose hearts she touched throughout her life.
In accordance with Yvonne’s wishes, cremation has been chosen. Calumet Park Funeral Chapel of Merrillville has been entrusted with cremation arrangements.
