William E. Sonntag Husband and Father, passed away on May 7, 2025
He was a lifelong area resident, an army veteran who in his own words “occupied France in the ’60’s”. His first job was raking gravel at the family Texaco station in Lake Station. He retired from Midwest steel after 30 years. Bill was an avid collector of anything that interested him. In his spare time, he was a folk artist making both carvings in wood and sculptures in steel. Helping to bring his wife’s visions to life, whether they be items for sale at BK Antiques, Decorations for events or simply yard art.
He is survived by his Children Elizabeth (Dan) Hall, William A. ( Cortney) Sonntag and many Grand and Great grandchildren.
William is preceded in death by his loving wife of 52 years Kathlyn A. Sonntag, parents Arthur and Betty Sonntag, Aunt and Uncle Marie & Joe Kozak.
Per William’s wishes there will be no service.
