William C. Stordeur, 75, of Hebron, IN, passed away on June 5, 2025. Bill was born on Sept. 29, 1949, in Evanston, Cook County, Illinois, to the late Robert and Billie (Michelsen) Stordeur. He married Linda Downs in their Hebron home, and they shared 33 years together.
Bill is survived by his wife, Linda; their daughters together, Elizabeth and Rebecca; his step daughter, Amanda, whom he loved as his own; and his children from a previous marriage, Jennifer and William Jr. He is also survived by his sisters, Sue Worsley and Barbara Stordeur Golden. He leaves behind many grandchildren, and a loving host of friends and acquaintances.
Bill graduated from Gavitt High school in 1967. He then served his country with valor in the United States Army, receiving an honorable discharge in 1977. Bill worked as an electrician at Inland Steel from 1968 until his retirement in January 2010.
He filled his time bowling, golfing and fishing with close friends. At home, he enjoyed building RC cars, aircrafts, boats, along with model cars, rockets, fishing lures and small engines. His hobbies were varied and vast. In later years, gardening grew to become one of his greatest passions, which allowed him to provide fresh food to his family and beauty to the world.
We will be honoring him with a service at Calumet Park Funeral Chapel, 7535 Taft Street Merrillville, IN 46410 on Tuesday June 17, 2025, with visitation from 3PM-7PM.
