Virginia “Ginnie” Dunn, age 91, passed away peacefully on October 22, 2025, in Valparaiso, Indiana. Born on July 20, 1934, in Gary, Indiana, she lived a long and full life marked by dedication to her work, devotion to family, and a deep appreciation for the simple joys that brought her happiness.
After graduating from Comptometer School in 1953, Ginnie embarked on a 30-year career in the accounting department at US Steel, later retiring to Florida, where she lived happily and frequently bragged about how much warmer it was than Indiana.
Ginnie shared many cherished years with her husband, William “Bill” Dunn. Together they created lasting memories during their fishing trips to Lac du Flambeau, playing pinochle on the weekends with close friends, taking trips to Vegas to visit her brother, and occasionally waking up in the morning and wondering how the car ended up in the front yard.
A woman of strong character, Ginnie was known for being regimented, particular, stubborn—and above all—loving. She found joy in the simple routines that brought comfort and connection: spinning her old vinyl records every Sunday morning and never missing the treasured 11 a.m. Sunday phone calls with her beloved sister Delores.
She was also an enthusiastic sports fan who cheered passionately for the Tampa Bay Rays and Buccaneers and enjoyed watching tennis.
She is lovingly remembered by her sister Delores Skingley of Cedar Park, Texas—an extraordinary 101 years old—and by her cherished nephew and nieces: Larry (Gail) Skingley of Valparaiso, Indiana; Terri (Ken) Dowdell of Cedar Park, Texas; and Debbie (Rob) Lane of Las Vegas, Nevada. Her legacy continues through many great-nieces and nephews as well as great-great-nieces and nephews.
Ginnie was preceded in death by her parents Walter and Florence Danielson; her beloved husband William Dunn; brother Darwin Danielson; sister-in-law Eileen Danielson; and nephew Jerry Skingley.
