Valentina (Tina) Riffle, lovingly known by many as “Crazy Grandma,” passed away peacefully on May 13, 2026, at the age of 83.
Tina was born in 1942 in Southern Leyte, Philippines. At the age of 23, she married James Riffle and moved to the United States on May 8, 1966, where they began building their life together and raising a family.
Tina lived a life filled with love, laughter, family, and unforgettable memories. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, aunt, and friend whose presence brought joy to everyone around her.
She had a vibrant personality and a heart full of love. Tina enjoyed listening to Elvis and country music and was happiest when surrounded by family. She loved cooking for the people she cared about, and everyone looked forward to her food at every family gathering. Whether sharing stories or simply spending time together, family meant everything to her.
Tina was also known for her love of cards, bingo, and trips to the casino for her beloved “ching ching.” Her fun-loving spirit, humor, and energy made her unforgettable to all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her children, Jimmy Riffle (Chris), Tina Wicks (Mike), John Riffle (Lisa), and Lisa Hucko (Matt); her niece, Lynette Woodward (Dennis); 19 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild. She is preceded in death by her daughter Donna Riffle.
Visitation services will be held at Rendina Funeral Home on Monday, May 18, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. 5100 Cleveland St. Gary, IN 46403
Tina’s love, laughter, and unforgettable spirit will be deeply missed and forever cherished by her family and friends.
