Tommy C. Winn, 64, died peacefully in his home in Merrillville, IN, on October 5, 2025 at the age of sixty-four.
Tommy is survived by his two sons, Jefforey A Winn, of East Chicago, IN, Eric C. Winn Sr. of Lake Station IN, His 4 grandchildren Eric C. Winn Jr. (14), Lucian J. (13), Jackson C. (11) and Embyr G (10), Siblings, Gene K Winn, Jr. (Carole), Dianna L. Krask, Dennis L Winn, Sr., Judith M. Cook (Dwain Cook Sr.), Peggy J. Gilligan (Sean), Tony Winn, and many nieces and nephews.
Tommy is preceded in death by both parents: Gene K Winn, Sr. (1994), and Mother Mary Lou Winn-McGeever. (2020)
Tommy was born on August 13, 1961, in Chicago, Illinois to Gene K, and Mary L. Winn. Tommy started with Detrick Steel at the early age of eighteen as a slitter operator, he moved to Acme Steel in April 1987 as a coil slitter operator, and went to new caster in shipping, and then became roll grinder. After 40 plus years in the Steel Company, he retired on 02/01/2018, although the company changed names many times. Tommy remained a steady employee. He loved the work he did and he also loved to fix cars.
Visitation is scheduled on Tuesday October 14, 2025 (3:00 – 7:00 pm) at Calumet Park Funeral Chapel 7535 Taft Street, Merrillville, IN 46410. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM at Calumet Park Funeral Chapel with a burial Service to follow at Evergreen Cemetery, located at 3401 West 87th Street Evergreen Park, Il 60805. Deacon Dennis Guernsey will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Tommy Winn’s life.
