Growing up as kids with Micheal, Suzanne’s grandson, Suzanne was somewhat of a centerpiece in Mike’s life. We spent alot of time at Suzanne’s growing up. Doing things such as playing basketball in her driveway to bonfires in the backyard and countless sleep overs. Suzanne was just like every other grandmother from Sauk village I knew, including my own. She was funny, warm and welcoming, yet didn’t take any shit from anyone! She would tell you without hesitation, emotion, or a crack in her voice exactly how she felt about you or whatever was going on. Sometimes you wanted to hear it. Sometimes you NEEDED to hear it (but didn’t want to). Her heart was always in the right place and she was so welcoming. She always made me feel like a part of the family. There would be times I’d call the house phone to speak to Mike and grandma would pick up (I always called her grandma as if she was my own) and Mike wouldn’t be home and we would just sit and talk and she’d talk my ear off asking things about how I’m doing etc and just always so caring even to the point she would go out of her way to make you feel special. At least that’s how she made me feel. Special. Like one of her own. Like family. And that’s what I’ll never forget about her. Her ability to welcome anyone and everyone in her home no matter your background no matter what youre going through in life no matter the path you’ve chosen no matter the mistakes you made she didn’t seem to care about any of that. All she seemed to care about was making people feel loved, cared for, and welcome. She gave everyone around her a place to call home. Not just a roof to sleep under, but a home. Not every house is a home, but Suzanne had a lovely home and loved her family unconditionally and I’ll never ever forget her. I’m very saddened by her passing. I wish I could be there in person to provide my support for the family but I’m definitely there in spirit. Until we see each other again Suzanne – thank you for welcoming me in your home and making me feel special and everything you’ve done for me, Mike, and everyone in your family. I know they’re eternally grateful for you, as am I to have known you. Rest easy beautiful soul <3
