Steven E. Steele, age 71, of Highland, Indiana, passed away suddenly on November 29, 2025.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 44 years, Carole Anne (Wilson) Steele; his sons, Michael (Tabitha) Steele and Patrick (Joanna) Steele; and his beloved grandchildren, Connor, Aubree, Carson, and Brynlee, who were the joy of his life. He rarely missed a game, recital, or school event, and nothing brought him more happiness than watching his grandchildren grow and cheering them on in everything they did.
Steven is also survived by his siblings, Judy Bradshaw, Linda (Jeff) Ewing, and Larry (Lorraine) Steele, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Cherilynn (Kevin) Klebs and Dianne (Jim) Carmody. He was preceded in death by his parents, Vertal and Mary Steele; his sister, Barbara (Steele) Slade; his brother, Jack Steele; his brothers-in-law, George Slade and Donald Bradshaw; his sister-in-law, Carol Steele; as well as his mother- and father-in-law, Edward and Janet Wilson.
Steven retired from Community Hospital after 30-plus years of dedicated service. He was a proud member of the Lions Club, where he enjoyed giving back to his community and helping those in need.
Services for Steven will be held on Monday, December 8, 2025, at Calumet Park Funeral Chapel, 7535 Taft Street, Merrillville, IN 46410, with visitation from 4 PM to 7 PM and a service to follow at 7 PM. In accordance with Steven’s wishes, cremation will follow services and a private burial and graveside service will be held at a later date at Calumet Park Cemetery.

Condolences to the Steele family@ Hi my name is Christopher J. Mihalich i am the first born nephew for Mike and Pat generation on the wilson side… my uncle Steve was like a father figure when my dad was not around,when I needed him the most. I remember I said a bad word and uncle Steve washed my mouth out.. I knew my family was in good hands with my uncle steve… my hero today is Jesus… he washed me clean.. uncle Steven is a has servant heart for wife, kids and grandchildren….I found a paperclip with a heart on it that found me.. its Bigger then normal. But I feel its for my Aunt Carol Anne. From someone above. I am like a big cousin and have my uncles back, i wrote a prayer for his kids and nephews. Called “The hold fast prayer”. Today I got a message from a stranger that I was a good nephew that had a good heart. I think uncle Steve wanted me to hear thay today… Love uncle Steve ( i will make sure she gets the gift.) ❤️
