Stephen (Steve) Mitrovich, age 77, of Portage, Indiana, following a battle with Parkinson’s passed away Saturday, May 31, 2025, at his home.
Steve was a graduate of Lew Wallace High School (class of 1966) in Gary, IN.
He served honorably in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War from 1968 – 1972.
Following his military service, he built a long career at being a chef.
He is preceded in death by his parents: Trajan (Tom) and Zakaria (Zee) Mitrovich, sisters: Linda and Debra Mitrovich, grandparents: Velian and Goca Mitrovich and Todor and Sabra Parkevich.
He is survived by his brother John (Helen) Mitrovich and sisters Victoria Mitrovich, Diane Mitrovich and Christine McGathey and many family and friends in the United States, Australia, Canada and Macedonia.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at The Protection of the Virgin Mary Orthodox Church, 8600 Grand Blvd. Merrillville, Indiana 46410 with Father Daniel
Radu officiating. Friends may visit at the church from 9:00 AM until the time of Funeral Service.
Burial to follow at The Protection of the Virgin Mary Orthodox Cemetery, 4401 West Ridge Road, Gary, Indiana 46408
