Ronald J. Repking, 94, of Flossmoor, Illinois, passed away peacefully on October 29, 2026, in Dyer, Indiana. Born in Gary, Indiana, on March 18, 1932, Ronald was the son of Frank C. Repking and Ida Louise Lustig. He graduated from Wabash College in June 1954, where he was a member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity. On October 2, 1954, he married Antoinette Vagnone at St. Mark’s Church in Gary.
Following two years of service in the United States Army Signal Corps, he earned a Master of Science degree in Mathematics from Purdue University in 1957. Ronald began his 34-year career with IBM in June 1957, retiring in 1991. He contributed to the development of FORTRAN programming, authored an IBM program known as SCAN, developed a processor for one of IBM’s machines, and was among four early IBM employees to earn the Consulting SE distinction. He also served on the SHARE Association, an IBM mainframe user organization.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Ronald devoted more than 25 years to youth baseball, serving as head of the Southwest Suburban Colt Baseball League. He took great pride in helping generations of young athletes enjoy the game.
Above all, Ronald cherished his family and was always there for them – always just a phone call away – and we were all his FAVORITES! He was there filming many family important events, games, celebrations and holidays celebrated in Flossmoor and at their waterfront cabin on Lake Monon, Indiana. He especially enjoyed family camping/canoeing at Turkey Run State Park, barbecues, cooking Sunday dinner, planting a vegetable garden, watching kids water-ski, fish, play games and enjoy the rides at Indiana Beach, along with relaxing by the lake reading his newspaper, writing his weekly newsletter and watching the swans. He was loved by all and will be missed.
He is survived by his six children: Cynthia (Curt) Fisher, David (Pam Bennett) Repking, Janet (David) Crane, Karen (Doug) Engberg, Ronald G. Repking, and James (Barbara DeChristopher) Repking; fourteen grandchildren; and two great- grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Antoinette; his son, Robert (Emily Karwowski); his parents; his brother, Frank; and his sisters, Mildred Wolski and Sharon Repking.
Ronald leaves behind a legacy of professional achievement, community service, and love of family. His life, accomplishments, and cherished memories will live on through the many people whose lives he touched.
