Robert Ray Parker, 86, of Merrillville, passed away on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at his home surrounded by loving family. He was born on May 2, 1939, in Hammond, to the late Ernest Ray and Lottie Ann (Nowakowski) Parker.
Robert is survived by his children, Cindy (Joe) Bell, and Don Parker; granddaughter, Alissa (Josh) Morse; great-grandson, Jacob Nickos; brother, Ronald (Cathy) Parker; and beloved dog and companion, Cinnamon.
In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his loving wife, Carol Marie (Melcic) Parker; brothers, Tom and Jerry Parker; and sister, Pat McElroy.
Robert worked as a wire drawer for Republic Steel Mill for 38 years, proudly retiring in the early 2000s. In his spare time, he could be found camping and fishing at his trailer on the Tippecanoe River, working on cars, watching stock car races, and cheering on his beloved Green Bay Packers. Most importantly, family was everything for Robert, especially when it came to his children and grandchildren.
In accordance with Robert’s wishes, cremation has been chosen and a private graveside service will be held at a later date at Calumet Park Cemetery in Merrillville. Calumet Park Funeral Chapel of Merrillville has been entrusted with his arrangements.
