Renee Goldsberry, 64, of Hobart, passed away Friday, August 1, 2025.
She met the love of her life, Tom, when she was a teenager and together they raised a family of 6 children, whom she doted upon.
Once she and Tom moved to Hobart, Renee made the most of the 10 acres that they had. She never had to move from her home and loved it more than any other place on earth. She had gardens and bees to make honey. She sewed clothing for her children, and loved having her chickens. She became known by many as “The Chicken Lady” and has that name still on her car license plate. She also raised a goat, pigs and even a horse and a pony. She loved all the things of the earth and all animals. She would never even allow a bug to be hurt a bug, all were told to trap it and let it go outside.
She cared for her beloved husband when he became sick, until he passed away at 52. After that she found even more ways to care for and be useful to others. She made many friends and would run people she knew to the airport doing what she called her “airport runs” to make extra money.
Renee is survived by her loving children: Tracy Cunningham, Tina Wells, Teri Takahashi, Peter Goldsberry, Pauline Harvey, and Marie Goldsberry and their families, and is Grandma Bamané to multiple treasured grandchildren. Her grandkids became her little tails. Anywhere she went there was a grandkid following. Because she was a young mother, she was young still when she became a grandmother and fully enjoyed everything about them.
She is also survived by her cherished siblings: Roxane Hermosillo, Rhonda Hatton, and Shelly Karus; and a host of extended family and many dear friends.
Visitation will be Thursday, August 7, 2025, from 4 – 8 PM at Calumet Park Hobart Portage Chapel (370 N. County Line Road, Hobart 46342) with a memorial service planned (time pending).

So many memories of my dear friend, trip to North Carolina, she had a way to open your heart and make you laugh.. such a beautiful person and her love for and faith in Jehovah was very strong ..a great encouragement to me.
She will be missed greatly, but we will see her in Paradise, well rested and beautiful
Renee, was a very kind and Caring Person. I lost my Good friend. A friend in need is a friend indeed. She was so loving not only for her family but also people around her. I just talked and was with her before a few days. She told me ‘ We are meeting next week’. The next week never came and I lost my friend. I pray for her and family that May God give you courage to bear this loss. May her soul rest in peace.
