Reita Vivian (Fultz) Hudson, 88, of Hebron, and formerly of Gary, passed away on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at Avalon Springs Health Campus in Valparaiso surrounded by loving family. She was born on March 12, 1938, in Morehead, KY, to the late Clement and Tressie (Cassidy) Fultz. 

Reita is survived by her children, Mark (Brenda) Hudson, and Julie (Mark) Welch; grandchildren, Keith (Amber) Hudson, Rachel (Brady) Holderread, and Captain Robert (Megan) Withers; great-grandchildren, Trey Simmons, Alexis Hudson, Logan Gernenz, Chase Holderread, Madison Withers, and Keziah Withers; sisters, Lynda Pierce, Janet Hough, and Connie Taylor; and loving host of extended family and friends. 

In addition to her parents, Reita was preceded in death by her sister, Ruth Fultz, and brothers-in-law, Arthur Pierce, and Kent Taylor. 

Reita was employed to perform clerical duties at Swiss Re Insurance Company and IBM Technology Company, retiring in 2006. She was also an avid member of the Pentecostal Church of God in Hobart for over 25 years and a member of TOPS Diet and Exercise Classes in Griffith for many years. 

In Reita’s spare time, she enjoyed participating in various cake decorating and painting classes, creating many special memories her family and friends hold near and dear to their hearts. 

Reita will best be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend to many and her presence will be dearly missed. 

Services for Reita will be held on Saturday, October 10, 2026, at Calumet Park Funeral Chapel, 7535 Taft Street, Merrillville, IN 46410, with visitation from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM and a short funeral service to follow at 11:00 AM. Deacon Jim Renwick will officiate. Burial will follow services at Calumet Park Cemetery, 2305 West 73rd Avenue, Merrillville, IN 46410.
