Randolph “Randy” Harold Branson born January 5, 1957 in Gary Indiana, passed away surrounded by his family on February 27, 2026 from a tough battle with cancer. He is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 49 years Jeanne (VanSickle). He is also survived by his children Michael (Katy) Branson and Wendy (Scott) Paterson. His four granddaughters, Samantha (Brian) Forney, Melanie (Lane Hooper) Paterson, Emma Branson, and Lucy Branson.
His mother-in-law Darlene (VanSickle) and sister-in-laws Debbie (Ted) Hart and Pam (Randy) Robb. Niece Allie (Les) Doepping and nephews Robbie (Sherri) Hart, Tony Robb, and Kevin (Jessica) Robb.
Randy graduated from Gary Wirt in 1975 as an outstanding basketball player. After graduation he started work at Inland Steel until he retired after 31 years. Randy stayed close with many high school friends for life, especially Joe (Suzy) Benjamin and Rick (Judy) Crocker. Randy played softball for many years and went to nationwide tournaments with the Inland Steelworkers. He grew up on the beach in Miller and loved to waterski. Later in life he took up golf and enjoyed spending time golfing year round with friends and his nephew in-law Les.
Randy was an avid Bears, Cubs, Blackhawks, Bulls, and Indiana Hoosier fan.
Randy will be cremated by Calumet Park and a Celebration of Life will be on Friday March 6, 2026 from 6pm-8pm at Bonner Senior Center located at 5800 Lexington Ave. Portage IN 46368.
