Philip Ray Bough, age 79, of (Black Oak) Hammond, Indiana passed away on July 26, 2023, at home in LaPorte, Indiana.

He was born on February 7th, 1944 in Hammond, Indiana, and lived in Hammond (Black Oak), Indiana, with parents Marlen & Allie Bough, both deceased. After graduation from Calumet High School, he married Alice Louise Swisher on August 16, 1963. Philip was a carpenter for 55 years, an Ordained Elder in the Church of the Nazarene, worked as an Advanced EMT to pay his way to a work and witness trip in Kenya, Africa. Philip and Alice went on 2 other Work and Witness Trips (1 to South America, and the other to Central America). After retirement Philip and Alice lived in an RV traveled, worked on Nazarene Camp Grounds with ROAM (RVs On A Mission). He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing and being a licensed Ham Radio operator.

Surviving him are his wife, Alice, and their 3 children: Sharon (Mark) Sanders, Paul (Carolyn) Bough, and Brian Bough (Heather Shalley); along with 5 Grandchildren and 5 Great Grandchildren, plus another on the way. Their oldest daughter, Susan Louise Bough, preceded her father in death. His sister, Mary Ellen Blanchard, also preceded him in death.

His Memorial Service/Pot Luck will be held at the Salvation Army (3240 Monroe St. LaPorte, IN 46350) at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 5, 2023. Philip always enjoyed the church pot lucks. Bring a dish, a dessert, and “a story” or “a do you remember” to share with each other during the meal. Philip has now gone on to be with the family that has preceded him. We will miss You, Husband, Dad, Grandfather, Great Grandfather.

Alice and family,

We send out love and condolences on the passing of your loved one. Mike and I want you to know you are being prayed for as you make the adjustments that come with the passing of Phillip. May the memories of the good times bless you.

Only fond memories of you and Phil, Alice. I also remember when he would tell Bible stories and do chalk drawings of them. The teens gathering around a campfire in your backyard. You two were a stable force for God.
