Paul Seamon, 83, of Valparaiso, Indiana, passed away on September 19, 2026.

Paul was born November 22, 1942, in East Chicago, Indiana, to Paul and Dorothy Seamon. He graduated from Lew Wallace High School in 1960 and proudly served three years in the United States Navy. His Navy service took him to Italy, France, Spain, Sicily, Rhode Island, Boston, and Florida. He worked as a driver for military officers and dignitaries and later as a ship’s mailman.

Following his military service, Paul attended Indiana University Northwest and earned an Accounting degree in 1967 as a member of the university’s first graduating class. He began his career with the Internal Revenue Service as a Revenue Agent and later became a Special Agent, investigating financial crimes throughout the region. He retired from the IRS in 1998 after more than 30 years of service.

Paul married Shirley Gail Erickson in 1968. They shared 58 years of marriage and built their life around family and friends. They eventually settled in Valparaiso, where they lived for more than 40 years on Lake Louise. Their home was the gathering place for family and friends and the setting for countless memories of boating, Fourth of July celebrations, sledding, and ice skating. Paul enjoyed shooting, golf, photography, boating and spending time with his family and dogs.

He is survived by his loving wife, Shirley Seamon; son and daughter-in-law, Paul E. (Laura) Seamon; grandchildren, Elise, Julia, Jacob, and Cara Seamon; niece, Shellee (Phil) Diggs; brother-in-law, Tim Culligan; cousin, Nina Quigley and numerous extended family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Paul (Kathleen) Seamon; mother, Dorothy Seamon; sister, Sharon Culligan; favorite uncle, Tim Sullivan and other beloved family members and friends.

The family is grateful for the many years they were blessed to share with Paul and for the lasting memories he leaves behind. They take comfort in the hope of the resurrection.

A memorial service will be held at Liberty Bible Church at 824 N Calumet Ave in Chesterton on Saturday September 26, 2026 at noon. Visitation will be held at the church prior to the service beginning at 11 am.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Liberty Bible Church in Chesterton, if desired.
