In Loving Memory of Nancy L. Jones

Nancy L. Jones, a devoted mother, caring grandmother, and beloved school bus driver for Merrillville School Corporation, passed away peacefully on August 5, 2023, at the age of 81. Born on February 8, 1942, she leaves behind a legacy of kindness, compassion, and a profound love for family.

Nancy’s life was defined by her unwavering commitment to helping others. As a school bus driver for many years, she brightened the lives of countless children with her warm smile and friendly demeanor.

Beyond her professional life, Nancy’s heart was open to nurturing and fostering children of all ages. She welcomed them into her home with open arms, providing them with a safe haven and a loving environment.

Nancy had a passion for furry companions and found solace and joy in the company of her beloved dogs. She had a green thumb and could often be found tending to her garden, surrounded by the beauty of blooming flowers. Her skilled hands were also evident in her intricate crocheting projects, each a testament to her creativity and attention to detail.

Family was paramount in Nancy’s life. Nancy’s parents, Fred and Marion Munchenburg, shaped her with their love and wisdom. Though her brother Dave Munchenburg preceded her in passing, her brother Tim (Cathy) Munchenburg and sister-in-law Betty Munchenburg remained a steadfast presence in her life. Her legacy lives on through her children: Pam (Tom) Goralczyk, Brian Jones, and Shannon (Brandon) Swaney, as well as her grandchildren: Jackie (Richard) Pennington, Andrew Goralczyk, Zach Goralczyk, Rebekah Jones, Jacob Jones, and Scarlett Swaney. As well as many other relatives and friends.

The loss of Nancy L. Jones is deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing her. She will be remembered for her boundless generosity, nurturing spirit, and the love she poured into every aspect of her life. Her legacy will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to share in her journey.

A burial service will be held to honor Nancy’s memory on Friday, August 11, 2023, promptly at 11:00 AM at Calumet Park Cemetery. Those attending are kindly requested to gather at the funeral chapel located at 7535 Taft Street in Merrillville, IN, by 10:45 AM. From there, a dedicated car line will guide us in procession to the cemetery, symbolizing our collective journey of remembrance.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to Humane Society of Northwest Indiana in Gary, an animal shelter that held special meaning to Nancy.

As we bid Nancy farewell, may we find solace in the beautiful memories we shared and the love she showered upon us. May her spirit find eternal peace, and may her legacy continue to inspire us to lead lives filled with love, compassion, and kindness.
