Michael Richard Ferchak, 87, of Hobart, passed away on Friday, October 31, 2025, at Spring Mill Health Campus with his loving family by his side. He was born on July 25, 1938, in Gary, to the late Michael and Anna (Kasony) Ferchak.

Michael is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Jacqueline (Monacy) Ferchak; nephews, Richard and Kenneth Fiebelkorn, and Todd Knight; nieces, Katie Fiebelkorn, and Julia Lowe; and a loving host of friends and extended family.

In addition to his parents, Michael was preceded in death by his parents-in-law, Agnes and Oliver Monacy; siblings-in-law, Joe and Debbie Monacy, and Irene and George Fiebelkorn; and niece, Ruth Knight.

Michael worked as a vicing supervisor for US Steel for over 40 years, proudly retiring in 2002. He was also a significant member of the Slovak Club and Sportsmen’s Club, respectively.

Michael was a lifelong devoted fan of the University of Notre Dame’s football team. He was also interested in cars, watching horse races, and was an animal lover at heart, especially when it came to his five beloved pups.

Services for Michael will be held on Thursday, November 6, 2025, at Calumet Park Funeral Chapel, 7535 Taft St, Merrillville, IN 46410, with visitation from 11 AM to 12:30 PM and a funeral service to begin at 12:30 PM. Entombment will follow at Calumet Park Cemetery in Merrillville.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Michael’s honor to the Humane Society of Hobart, 2054 State Road 130, Hobart, IN 46342.
