Mato Bajmakovich (Bajmakoski) was taken into God’s arms and passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 15, 2022, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on October 22, 1930, in the beautiful village of Meseista in Ohrid, Macedonia to the late Argil and Altana Bajmakovich (Bajmakoski). He will be fondly remembered by family and friends as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother who adored music, singing, and dancing. Mato will be cherished for his pure smile and optimism. He was an inspiration for good and healthy living through his uplifting personality for generations to come.
Mato was a Founding and lifelong member of SS. Peter and Paul Macedonian Orthodox Cathedral, originally located in Gary, Indiana before moving to Crown Point, Indiana.
Mato was blessed with a large and tender-hearted family. He worked in the sanitation department in the city of Gary, Indiana for 20 years then went to work at Inland Steel in Each Chicago, Indiana for the following 19 years. Mato loved his family with everything in him. He was kind, affable, and good-humored. He always knew how to light up a room with joy. He will be profoundly missed by his loved ones.
Mato is survived by his wife, Velika Bajmakovich of 69 years, his two sons, Lupco (Blaga) Bajmakovich, Larry (Menka) Bajmakovich, his sister, Eva (Noel) Alicia, his four grandchildren, Chris (Laura) Bajmakovich, Michelle (Mile) Taneski, Stephanie (Alex) Reinhold, and Steven Bajmakovich, and his four great-grandchildren, Christopher and Alexandra Bajmakovich, and Kristian and Antonio Taneski. He is preceded in death by his parents, Argil and Altana Bajmakovich (Bajmakoski), and his grandson, Michael Bajmakovich.
Visitation will be held at SS Peter and Paul Macedonian Orthodox Cathedral, 9660 Broadway, Crown Point, IN on Tuesday, September 20, 2022 beginning at 10:30 am with Funeral Services beginning promptly at 11am. Father Georgij Gligorov and Father Aleksandar Mitrov officiating. Interment Calumet Park Cemetery. Luncheon will be held after the graveside service at SS Peter and Paul Macedonian Orthodox Banquet Hall.
