Manuel “Manny” D. Muniz Sr, age 88, of Gary Indiana passed away on February 21, 2023. Manny was born on January 1, 1935 to Juan and Isidra Muniz in Moca, Puerto Rico. He was proceeded in death by his brother Samuel Muniz and son Manuel Muniz, Jr. Manny is survived by his loving wife, Aida, his children Aida (Jaime) Calderon and Becky Muniz, 5 grandchildren: Yvette (John) Lewis, Keith Stone, Samantha Muniz, Christian Muniz and Manuel Muniz III, 3 great grandchildren: John Lewis IIII, Nadia Lewis and Samaya Cushenberry, and many nieces, nephews and friends.  Manny served in the US Army. He retired from US Steel and was previously employed as a lab transport driver for St. Mary Medical Center. Manny’s passions included his family, baseball, and old western movies. He enjoyed the outdoors and adored his wife of 63 years. Manny loved to socialize and spent many mornings and evenings in his later years enjoying his coffee groups.  Visitation will be held Thursday March 2, 2023 from 4 – 8pm at Calumet Park Funeral Chapel- MerrillvilleFuneral Service will be held Friday March 3, 2023 at 11am at Calumet Park Funeral Chapel 7535 Taft Street Merrillville, IN Interment following at Calumet Park Cemetery.
