Manolet Luyon, 66, of Merrillville, passed away Tuesday, March 5. 2024. He was born in Manila, Philippines to Gloria Ignacio Luyon and the late Medardo Luyon.
He is survived by his mother; his devoted wife, Zenaida; beloved daughters, Lisa (Andrew) Tanis and Kammi (Andrew) Moore; the grandchildren that he was so proud of: Carter, Caitlyn, and Alivia Tanis, and Lincoln Moore; dear sisters: Hannelore (David Jr.) Jellison, Mercy (Antonio) De Rivera, Miriam (Conrado Jr.) Francisco, and Marlene (Froylan) Clemente; and a host of extended family.
Manolet held many careers throughout the region, working at the post office, Illiana, and as a surgical technician for some time before retiring and taking a position with Denny’s Restaurant. He was a talented artist who loved to draw and do calligraphy. He loved games of patience and skill like chess and Jenga and could often be found relaxing with a crossword puzzle.
Manolet loved his family to no end – spending days treating Zenaida to shopping and dinner dates and doting on his grandkids. Christmas was his favorite holiday and loved any opportunity to gather with close friends and family.
He will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know him.
Visitation will be from 12 – 4 PM on Monday, March 11th, 2024, with a chapel service at 2:30 PM at Calumet Park Funeral Chapel (7535 Taft Street, Merrillville, IN). Deacon Rob Litavecz officiating.

Manny was a ray of Sunshine in our clinic. Was always pleasant, respectful and very happy. His grandkids meant the world to him! He would smile everytime he knew I was his technician for the day. I am so very sad to hear of his passing. My deepest, most sincere condolences to Zenaida, his wife and entire family! 🙏 I am missing you Manny! 😢
Nonoy, our visits to Indiana will not be the same anymore. We will miss one good friend who is like a blood brother to us. Rest In Peace bro🙏
