Lodene (Johnson) Baggarly, 77, of Griffith, passed away on Thursday, June 5, 2025, at her home with her loving husband by her side. She was born on December 18, 1947, in Highland, to the late Sam and Jessie (Hines) Johnson. On her birthday in 1965, she married the love of her life, James “Jim” Baggarly, in Hammond.

In addition to her husband of 59 years, Jim, Lodene is survived by her son, James Allen Baggarly; grandson, Andrew James Baggarly; siblings, Fred (Jo) Johnson, Joe Johnson, Ron Johnson, Sandy Weaver, Glenda (Kenny) Adams, and Ruth Koleno; beloved dog, Ozzy; and a loving host of extended family, friends, and acquaintances.

In addition to her parents, Lodene was preceded in death by her sister, Linda Ingram, and brothers-in-law, Marty Koleno and Bob Weaver.

Lodene was primarily a homemaker, taking care of her family and cherished house throughout her life. She also enjoyed cleaning others’ houses, reading, and spending time with family, especially when it came time to ride on the back of Jim’s Harley Davidson motorcycle.

Lodene will best be remembered as a very caring and kind woman who will always be a beloved wife, mother, Nana, sister, and friend to many. She, along with all the love and joy she shared, will be dearly missed by those whose hearts she touched throughout her life.

Services for Lodene will be held on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at Calumet Park Funeral Chapel, 7535 Taft Street, Merrillville, IN 46410, with visitation from 10 AM to 12 PM and a funeral service to begin at 12 PM. Burial and graveside services will immediately follow at Calumet Park Cemetery.

Aunt Lodene was the sweetest human! She loved and took care of everyone around her! Not to mention, I don’t think there was a better cook, save my grandma Jessie! You will be deeply missed Aunt Lodene. Love you forever.
