Ljubomir “Ljupco” “Louie” Stojanovski age 91, passed away peacefully with his family by his side, January 10, 2026 in Crown Point, IN. Ljupco was born and raised in Ljubojno, Resen, Macedonia and immigrated to America in 1961 after marrying his childhood friend Spasa (Stella) Spirich Dimovski, from the bordering Macedonian village of Dolno Dupeni.
Ljupcho & Spasa were married in Resen on May 14th, 1961, and moved to Pittsburgh, PA, soon after where Lupcho started his capitalist lifestyle working right alongside his new bride at Versheren’s market in Pittsburgh’s Whitehall neighborhood. Through family connections, Ljupcho found steadier work at Inland Steel Co. in East Chicago, IN, and moved his wife and first born (Daniel “Danny”, born in Pittsburgh) this time to Gary, IN, in 1963. After purchasing their first house, the young couple welcomed their youngest son, Alex, and at Inland Steel, Louie embarked on a 34-year tenure as a proud member of the Steelworkers union working his way up the blue collar ladder, landing his final position there as a high ranking member of the new digital age of steel production.
Louie and Stella held precious the dream of opportunity and a better life that the U.S. promised and, with a combined passion for travel and their birth country, the two immigrant entrepreneurs opened L&S Travel Service which they owned and operated in Gary and later in Merrillville, IN. The two served their fellow immigrant community in that capacity for over 30 years. Along with planning overseas travel for thousands, Ljupche and Spasa’s travel agency became the seminal hub of news and information from the old country throughout the 1970s, 80s and early 90s. Ultimately creating a sizeable clientele that launched the duo as the multi-year alternative radio hosts for the long-running Macedonian Radio Hour. The two travel agents were very proud of the work they did serving the large Slavic community in the Chicagoland area as the most used agency to book travel to and support and guaranty hundreds of potential immigrants from the Eastern European region so as to make their own immigrating journeys to the United States to pursue the same life of freedom and happiness they themselves did in the early 1960s.
However, their most important time serving their community was spent as decades-long, faithful members of S.S. Peter & Paul Macedonian Orthodox Church (now Cathedral), serving on church boards, committees and elected positions for over 30 years. Ljupcho retired as a steelworker in 1997 and would begin focusing on his soon to be growing family. Sadly, Spasa passed away in 2001 at age 65 after 40 years of marriage and left the widower to welcome his grandchildren who began arriving in 2002.
Ljupcho’s next chapter began simultaneous to becoming a grandfather as he found his future happiness with his beloved companion of over 20 years, Mariola Rajkovič. The two of them shared most of their golden years residing in Crown Point, IN until Louie’s medical hardships separated them in 2025.
Ljubomir was preceded in death by his wife Spasa; his brother, Dusan (Slavka) Germanski; sister Mića (Boris) Śenderkovski; two infant grandchildren: Andrew and Stella Stojanovski; and his best friend and grandson, Louis “Louie” Andrew Stojanovski (2002-2025). He is survived by his sons, Daniel (Tammy) Stojanovski and Alex (Andrea) Stojanovski; and three Grandaughters: Sofia, Hannah and Ava Stojanovski.
Visitation for Ljupcho will be held Friday, January 16, 2026 from 10:30 am to 11:30 am with funeral services beginning at 11:30 am, at S.S.
