Linda Lou (Kunde) Ruthrauff, 84, of Schererville, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 30, 2026, at the William J. Riley Memorial Residence in Munster. She was born on February 24, 1942, in Freeport, MI, and raised in Hastings, MI, by the late Fredrick Reinhart Kunde and Florence Harriet (Skeoch) Sargent. 

Linda is survived by her husband of 66 years, Dennis Ruthrauff; two sons, Mark Ruthrauff, and Bryan (Dana) Ruthrauff; three grandchildren, Danielle (Steve) Sneary, Austin Ruthrauff, and Justin (Peyton) Ruthrauff; four great-grandchildren, Jack, Cooper, Quinn, and Rhett; two sisters, Katie (Bud) Stone, and Shirley Tolls; two brothers-in-law, Rick Ruthrauff, and Dwight (Ruth) Ruthrauff; one sister-in-law, Nancy Ruthrauff; and a loving host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. 

Linda and her husband, Dennis, raised their sons in Calumet City, IL, and Lansing, IL, making many memories along the way. In 2002, the couple moved and retired to Schererville, IN, until the present day. Linda worked for Dominick’s Finer Foods for 22 years and was also a union member of the United Food and Commercial Workers until retirement. 

Linda enjoyed various hobbies including cooking, baking, jewelry-making, gardening, reading, puzzles, attending sales with friends, shopping, and going on vacations with her husband, family, and friends over the years. 

Linda will best be remembered as a kind, loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. 

In accordance with Linda’s wishes, cremation has been chosen and a private burial will be held at a later date at Calumet Park Cemetery in Merrillville. Calumet Park Funeral Chapel of Merrillville has been entrusted with Linda’s arrangements. 

The family would like to thank the staff of Hospice of the Calumet along with those at the William J. Riley Memorial Residence for their compassionate care and kindness throughout Linda’s final days.
