Linda Sue (nee Hicks) Carter, cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, passed away November 30, 2025, in Miramar Beach, FL, at the age of 81.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jack “Jackie” Ray Carter, who had passed away on February 7, 2007, in Crown Point, Indiana.
Both born in Kentucky, Linda and Jack met in Indiana through family and quickly decided to build a life together. Jack, a born entrepreneur, found work in many occupations throughout his life while Linda focused on raising their five children before starting her career in the late 1970s. Together, they worked hard to provide for their family and create a home built on a foundation of strong faith, good food, games, humor, and lots of love.
Linda found joy in gardening, reading, and spending time with her family. Nicknames “Wonder Woman” by co-workers, she continually upheld values of strength, resilience, and compassion. Jack delighted in his dogs and horse, being outdoors, and teasing his family. He is remembered for his deep gratitude, dedication, and spirited nature.
Jack and Linda’s memory will live on through their children: Eddie, Lisa, Donna, Ronnie, and Wendy and their partners, and their many grandchildren and great grandchildren. The family will be holding a private memorial in honor of the couple on the anniversary of their wedding, February 26, 2026, at Calumet Park Cemetery, in Merrillville, Indiana.
