Leticia, “Lety”, Espino (née Navarro) was born on February 13, 1965, in Colotlán, Jalisco, Mexico. Lety, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and sister-in-law, was greeted to God’s holy heaven on April 20, 2025, at the age of 60, surrounded by loved ones in her home.

Lety is survived by her loving husband Refugio Espino, whom she shared 42 years of marriage with.  With Refugio, she mothered 2 children, Maricela and Sergio, and was a caring grandmother to her granddaughters, Liliana and Andrea. Lety was an affectionate grandmother, and cared greatly for her daughter, and especially for her disabled son, whom she was the main caretaker for. She is also survived by her mother, Maria Navarro, whom she shared a close and tender relationship with.

Lety is preceded in death by her father, Gilberto Navarro.

Lety is also remembered as a kind-hearted older sister and as a dependable, loving, sister-in-law and daughter-in-law. She was a splendid cook, remembered for her yummy dishes, and she helped to raise and take care of many children of her husband’s family.

She was the kind of person for whom no request was ever too much, no favor too inconvenient. She gave of herself fully and freely, always from a place of deep love and unwavering generosity. With quiet strength and steadfast faith, she lived a life rooted in service, showing up for others with grace, warmth, and reliability that never wavered. To know her was to witness true goodness in action—a remarkable woman whose compassion left an incredible mark on everyone she encountered.

She will forever be remembered in our hearts for her contagious laughter, love for gardening, sewing, and knitting, and for her beautiful curly hair.

A visitation for Leticia Espino will be held on Friday, April 25, 2025 from 4-9PM at Calumet Park Funeral Chapel, 370 N County Line Road, Hobart, IN. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 26th, 2025 at 10 AM at St. Francis Xavier Church, 2447 Putnam Street, Lake Station IN. Interment at Heritage Cemetery.

Leticia “Lety” Espino (de soltera Navarro) nació el 13 de febrero de 1965 en Colotlán, Jalisco, México. El 20 de abril de 2025, a la edad de 60 años y rodeada del amor de su familia en su hogar, Lety fue recibida en el cielo por nuestro Señor. Fue una esposa, madre, abuela, hermana y cuñada amorosa, su vida fue reflejo de fe, entrega y generosidad.

Le sobreviven su amado esposo Refugio Espino, con quien compartió 42 años de matrimonio lleno de amor y compañerismo. Juntos formaron una familia, criando a sus dos hijos, Maricela y Sergio. Fue una abuela cariñosa y dedicada a sus nietas Liliana y Andrea. Su amor de madre fue inquebrantable, especialmente por su hijo Sergio, a quien cuidó con todo su corazón y devoción. También le sobrevive su madre, María Navarro, con quien mantenía una relación profundamente cercana y tierna.

Lety fue precedida en vida por su padre, Gilberto Navarro.

Lety será siempre recordada como una hermana mayor de gran corazón y como una cuñada y nuera en quien siempre se podía confiar, generosa con su tiempo y afecto. Era una cocinera excepcional, famosa por sus platillos deliciosos, y ayudó a criar y cuidar a muchos de los niños de la familia Espino, dejándoles un amor que marcó sus vidas para siempre.

Era una mujer para quien ningún favor era demasiado grande, ni ninguna petición una molestia. Entregaba su tiempo, su energía y su cariño sin medida y siempre desde un lugar de amor sincero y fe profunda. Con una fuerza serena y una fe firme, vivió una vida dedicada al servicio, brindando consuelo, calidez y apoyo a quienes la rodeaban. Conocerla era ver la bondad en su forma más pura, una mujer extraordinaria y su compasión dejó una huella imborrable en todos los corazones que tocó.

Vivirá para siempre en nuestros recuerdos, en su risa contagiosa, su amor por la jardinería, la costura y el tejido, y en su inconfundible cabello chino que tanto la representaba.

La velación de Leticia Espino se llevará a cabo el 25 de abril de 2025, de 4:00 p.m. a 9:00 p.m., en Calumet Park Funeral Chapel, 370 N County Line Road, Hobart, IN. La misa de cuerpo presente se celebrará el 26 de abril de 2025 a las 10:00 a.m. en la iglesia St. Francis Xavier, ubicada en 2447 Putnam Street, Lake Station, IN. Su descanso final será en el panteón Heritage Cemetery
