In Memory of Leon Sanchez Jr. (87 yrs).
Resident of Hobart Indiana peacefully passed on September 2, 2023.
Born on September 29, 1935 in McAllen, Texas to Leon Sanchez Sr. and Maria DeLaLuz Garza Sanchez.
Leon Sanchez Jr. enlisted in the Army upon completion of his high school career. He honorably provided his military services in the Korean War. Soon after his military services Leon extended his career as a Gary Indiana Police Officer for many years and retired from the Police force in 1982. His dedication of public services continued on in various security jobs which included working for nipsco, a water park in Mission Texas, the Stardust Casino in Las Vegas Nevada and the Blue Chip Casino in Michigan City Indiana, being the final days of his employment. His final retirement occurred in the year 2014.
Preceded in death by both his parents. He is survived by his son Leon Sanchez III and wife Nancy. His grandson Michael A Sanchez who resides in Valparaiso Indiana. His granddaughter Alexandra T. Sanchez resident of Champaign, Illinois. His great grandchildren: Alexis, Macie, and Ian Sanchez. Sister; Minerva Sanchez Guerra and husband Ramon of McAllen Texas. Brothers; Ricardo Sanchez and wife Norma of Arlington Texas. Oscar Sanchez and wife Irene of Pontiac Michigan, Jaime Sanchez and wife Esther of Grand Blanc, Michigan. Including many nieces and nephews as well.

I remember my Tio Leon as a “larger than life” guy, who stood tall and straight wherever he was. I loved to listen to his deep voice while telling police stories and his humble laugh. Thanks for the great memories and all your years of service. RIP
