Kevin Richard Kowal, 34, of Hobart, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 4, 2022 surrounded by his loving family and close friends. Kevin was born on August 3, 1988 to Richard and Susan Kowal. He was the oldest of three sons.
Kevin, also known as Kalvin, had a beautiful childhood and rich life in the time we were blessed to share with him. He loved spending time with his family and friends. Always coordinating games during family gatherings whether it was cards at the dinner table (acey deucey) or a corn hole tournament in the backyard. He lit up our lives with his presence, never without a grin on his face or a witty comment on his lips. He was an avid sports fan, his favorite team was the Indianapolis Colts. In his free time, he enjoyed playing softball and basketball with his brothers and friends. He loved fishing, playing poker, and had a natural gift with technology. His beloved dog, Peyton, was his best friend. Anyone in his life knows, if you saw Kevin, Peyton was never far behind. Kevin had the biggest heart. He never hesitated to tell you how much he loved you or offer you help. Whether it was picking you up from the airport or driving 2 hours just to find the right matching pajamas for his Christmas tradition, Kevin was always there. Kevin loved nothing more than being an Uncle, his nieces, Kora and Edi, were the pride and joys of his life.
Kevin is survived by his parents, Richard and Susan Kowal; brother Kyle (Kim) Kowal; brother Kory (Ashley) Kowal; nieces Kora and Edi; Grandmother Arlene Kowal; and many loving Aunts, Uncles, cousins, and friends that will miss him dearly.
He was greeted in heaven by his favorite person and great grandmother, Irene Galambus; his grandfather, Herman Fortenberry; grandmother Viola Fortenberry; and Grandfather Alan Kowal.
There will be a memorial service in his honor held at Calumet Park Funeral Chapel at 370 North County Line Rd Hobart, Indiana on Friday October 7, 2022, from 3-7 pm.
Contributions in memory of Kevin can be made to the Humane Society of Hobart, IN if preferred instead of sending flowers.

Kevin always helped me and Aunt Mary with our laptop cause we could never figure out how to use he’d just laugh and come over. Played Fantasy Football with him and at the end of the year he would say Uncle Fred your terrible at this and we would laugh. I’d say get you next year. We will miss that boy. Luv you Kevin.
I’m sorry this is so late but I just found out. Kevin was a childhood freind and we went through all kind of situations together. He had a big heart and did what he could to help a friend. Rip Kevin and my condolences to all his family especially his Mom and Dad Rich and Susan and his brothers Kyle and kory.
