Kathlyn A. Sonntag Wife and Mother, pillar of the community, passed away on September 25, 2023
In her short time on this earth, she raised 8 children, helped raise countless grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also ran her own Antique/craft business and a cake baking business. She was passionate about genealogy and traveled around the midwest looking up long lost relatives. Kathlyn was a long-time member of the democratic precinct committee, the Rebekah’s and Red hat society. She was a fountain of knowledge of Indiana history and gave historical talks around Northwest Indiana. She found her true calling in the Lake Station Historical Society where she served as a board member and curator for all three locations of the Historical Society Museum. Kathlyn is survived by her loving Husband of 52 years William E. Sonntag, Children Kathlyn (Steve) Kujawski, Erin (Henry) Rice, Christine (Greg) Comer, Joe Miller, Charity (Victor) Hlavsa, Elizabeth (Dan) Hall, William A. ( Cortney) Sonntag and countless Grand and Great grandchildren. Kathlyn is preceded in death by her parents William and Louise Montgomery, siblings Barbera Melton, David Montgomery, and John Montgomery: Daughter Theresa Annette Miller, son William Earl Miller.
