Judith L. (Childers) Stearns, 62, of Lake Station, Indiana passed away, June 7, 2023, at the hospital, surrounded by a room of people who loved her dearly. She passed away just eight short days after her husband of almost 44 years, Roger “Wayne” Stearns. Judy was married on November 16, 1978. Judy was born in Rensselaer, on September 13, 1960, to Donald and Dorothy Childers. For many years Judy worked outside the home when her children were in school and worked various jobs throughout the years. The one thing that she will be remembered most for was taking care of her family. She raised her three children and several of her grandchildren. She was a positive role model to her daughters and granddaughters, who will remember her strength and tenacity to keep going, even in difficult times.
“A great soul serves everyone all the time. A great soul never dies. It brings us together again and again.”—Maya Angelou
