Joyce E. Bunnell, a long-time resident of Merrillville, formerly of Gary, passed
away Monday, August 7th, 2023, at Methodist Hospital Southlake Campus. She
was born on August 31st, 1938, in Lancaster, PA, the daughter of Chester W.
and Cordelia C. Kline. After graduating from Horace Mann High School, she
married her high school sweetheart, Bill J. Bunnell, who preceded her in death
in 2001. She is survived by her three sons, Jeffrey Bunnell (Vickie) of Hebron,
Bruce (Paula Gregory) Bunnell of Fort Worth, TX, and Steven Bunnell of
Merrillville. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Jason, Michael, Brent,
Megan, Emma, Elaine and Emily, and seven great-grandchildren, Everett,
Braelyn and Paisley, Mia, Kendall, Logan and Colt. She was a very caring
mother to her children and grandchildren. She was also active in Beta Sigma
Phi (a non-academic sorority with chapters worldwide) for over 62 years. She
was very busy in her local chapter and at the state level, where she served as
State President more than once. She thoroughly loved her sisters and enjoyed
the community service provided by the organization. Visitation will be held
Sunday (August 13th) from 2-6 PM at Rendina Funeral Home, 5100 Cleveland
St., Merrillville. Funeral services will be held Monday (August 14th) at 10 AM in
the chapel. Burial will be at Calumet Park Cemetery. The family requests those
who wish to express sympathy to consider donating to Haven House
