John Wesley Ritter, age 92, of Valparaiso, IN passed away on June 12, 2025. He was born on May 17, 1933, in Baltimore, Maryland, son of Margaret Olivia and John Wesley Ritter, Sr., brother of Margaret Lorraine Feher.

John retired from Bethlehem Steel after serving 35 years, 4 years as a machinist apprentice, 8 years as a machinist at the Baltimore Plant. He was then transferred to the Burns Harbor Plant where he served 23 years in management. Following that, he spent 25 years teaching for Educational Systems Workshop located in Crown Point. John was also active as a Boy Scout Lander and member of the Valparaiso Jaycees.

John is preceded in death by his wife Joan Ilean Ritter.

John is survived by his three children: Eugene Wesley Ritter, Mark Edwin (Jennifer) Ritter, and Laura Joan Ritter; three grandchildren: Anthony Mark Ritter, Austin Lewis (Tae) Ritter and Ashley Rae (Rickie) Lehman; six great grandchildren: Paisley Rae Lehman, Delaney Rae Lehman, Grady Jade Lehman, Clive Austin Ritter, Cohen Mark Ritter and Asaleigha Ember Leigh Ritter.

The family will line up at Calumet Park Funeral Chapel 7535 Taft St. Merrillville, IN on Thursday June 19th at 10:45 am. There will be a Mausoleum Service held at Calumet Park Cemetery  2305 W 73rd Ave. Merrillville, IN at 11:00 am.
