JoAnn Abram, age 76, of Gary, IN, entered into eternal life on August 27th, 2023, at Southlake Methodist Hospital. She was born July 20th, 1947, in Carroll, Illinois to Roosevelt and Selma Walton.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. Her hobbies were word puzzles and reading books. She truly enjoyed cooking countless delicious meals for her family throughout her years.
JoAnn was proceeded in death by her parents, Roosevelt and Selma Walton; husband of 31 years, James Abram; daughter, Chelon Brown; brothers: John Walton, Larry Walton, Terry Walton, and Otis Jackson; and sisters, Betty Barnett and Emma Jean “Tussie” Hemphill.
She is survived by her daughter, Debbie Ann Abram; granddaughter, Tiana Brown; grandson, Eriq James Maurice Roland; sister, Delores (David) Chrismon (Mishawaka, IN); brothers, James (Ruth) Walton (Seattle, WA); Wilbert Walton (Gary, IN); sisters: Bernadette Nichols (TX), Antoinette PointDexter (Indianapolis, IN), Claudette Nichols (Atlanta, GA); her special friend, Charles Wright of Gary, IN; and a host of nieces and nephews.
