Jim Valasina passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 16, 2026. He was born on November 6, 1948, in Gary, Indiana to John and Emily Valasina. Jim attended St. Casimir Grade School, Andrean High School, and graduated from Purdue University. He was last employed at the Northrop Corp. in Arlington Heights, Illinois.
Jim loved long walks with his beloved dog, Sadie, on the walking trails and around the parks in Crown Point, which he continued doing after Sadie passed away. He also spent many enjoyable hours on a park bench working puzzles and solving math problems. This was his daily routine for years, even in winter, until his health began to fail.
Jim was a good man, a kind man. He lovingly cared for his parents through John’s cancer and Emily’s decline in her later years.
Jim is survived by his sister, Valerie (Jim) Lynch, nephews, Brian (Kathy) Lynch, Michael Lynch, great-niece, Grace Lynch, and several cousins.
Jim will be cremated and will not have a service, according to his wishes. To honor his memory, a park bench will be donated to the Crown Point Parks Dept., in his name. He will like that. Rest in peace, dear brother. Love you!
