-

2023

James D. Adams, 90, of Merrillville, passed away Saturday, November 4, 2023.
James grew up on the family farm in Kentucky, served 2 years in the U.S. Army, and then moved to Northwest Indiana. He met his love Delores and worked for many years at U.S. Steel as a bricklayer and welder, and also worked as a part-time mechanic. In his younger days he used to love to take his boat to Cedar Lake and go water skiing. After retiring, he and Delores “hit the road” and spent their time traveling, playing bingo, going to casinos, and doing good deeds for others.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Delores, as well as his parents: William Adams and Clora White; and siblings: Paul (Althea), Calvin (Sue), Doris (Eva), Harry (Barbara), Tom (Barbara), and Billy (Ethel) Adams, Mildred (Jim) Hayes, and Don White.
He has left to cherish his memory his son, Ron Adams, and daughter, Rebecca Adams; his sister, Shirley (John) Randle; sisters-in-law, Joyce White, and Sandra Skafte; and many nieces, nephews and extended family.
James’s family would like to extend a special thank you to his caregiver, Deanna Riveron, and Visiting Angels, the staff at Virginia Place Assisted Living, and Traditions Hospice for the care and comfort they have provided throughout his journey.
He will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by all who were blessed to have known him.
Visitation will take place on Friday, November 10, 2023, from 10 AM until time of service at 12 PM at Calumet Park Funeral Chapel (7535 Taft Street, Merrillville, Indiana). Interment to follow at Calumet Park Cemetery. For information call 219-736-5840.
