2023

Jakob Rojo, 21, of Michigan City (formerly of Westville), passed away unexpectedly on July 4, 2023.
He is survived by his father, Rogelio “Roger” and stepmother, Anastasia; his bonus mom who helped raise him, Angie Rojo; paternal grandparents, Maria and Jose Luis Rojo Sr.; maternal grandparents, Larry and Bobby Seagraves; and bonus grandparents, Sheila and Lonnie Nelson; siblings: Gaige Rojo, Ariana Rojo, and Edwin Rojo-Miranda; the love of his life, his girlfriend, Monte; his fur-child, Keanu; many cousins who were more like siblings; and a host of aunts, uncles, extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Kristen Rojo-Sandiver, and uncle, Jose Luis Rojo, Jr.
Jakob was known to bring smiles and laughs wherever he went. He kept life exciting, as he never took anything too seriously, was the consummate goofball, and ultimate prankster. He was a friend to all and will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to have known him.

Visitation for Jakob will be held Monday July 24, 2023 at 10am with a funeral service to follow at 11am. All services will be held at St. Francis Xavier Church, located at 2447 Putnam Street, Lake Station, IN 46405. Interment will be at Calumet Park Cemetery.

Jakob, I will never forget you!! You brought joy and laughter to everyone you met. You were like one of my own kids…watching you grow up in our neighborhood, all of you kids hanging out playing basketball, swimming, and having sleepovers. Those days will always be cherished. And you will always be in my heart. May you rest in peace. 🙏❤️

The kindness you showed absolutely everyone, no matter the struggles you faced, is something this world wasn’t worthy of ever having. You truly were my favorite ridiculous dance move to watch as you unloaded those trailers, my favorite story to listen to be told as you split the pan next to me and my favorite thank you after giving you your favorite chocolate pb bars for snacks.

I’m never going to let anyone forget the smile and joy you brought to everyone you came in contact with. Thank you for letting us be apart of the pure magic you blessed us with Big Red. We will take it from here bro, go rest easy Rojo. 🤍

Jake was a great kid to have in class and made the day very interesting! I truly loved being his teacher! You were so loved by all who knew you. I hope and pray you knew that.
