Heidemarie Nealon was born to Sophie Hold and Kaser Fabian Kopf on November 29, 1943. She passed away on January 1, 2026 due to illness. She was born and raised in Germany and attended Indiana University, where she earned an Associate’s degree in Respiratory Therapy in 1982. Heidimarie worked for the Broadway Methodist Hospital and then as a Respiratory Clinical Instructor until she retired in 2002.

While living in Germany, she met her future husband John Francis Nealon. They were married in Munich, Germany, and moved to the United States. They were married for 53 years.
Heidemarie is survived by her son Stephan Nealon, son Patrick Nealon; grandson, Ryan Bowen; sister-in-law, Helga Rietzler, sister-in-law, Ann (late Lawrence) O’Meara of Hobart, and sister-in-law, Barbara (late Thomas) Nealon of Texas; brother-in-law, James Nealon; and nieces: Regina (late Terry Pope, Lynn Castmore, and Stacy Nealon, and nephews: Richard O’Meara, Jason Nealon and Michael Nealon; and numerous great nieces and great nephews. She is also survived by her beloved feline companions. She is preceded in death by her husband, John; her mother, Sophie Hold, and her cousin, Geli Herzner.

Heidemarie was an avid gardener in her retirement and was very involved in animal rescue. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who loved her family deeply.
A memorial Service will be held Saturday, January 17, 2026 at 11 am at Calumet Park Funeral Chapel (7535 Taft St. Merrillville, IN 46410). Inurnment at Calumet Park Cemetery. Memorial visitation will be held on Friday, January 16, 2026 from 3-7 pm at Calumet Park Funeral Chapel.
