Ethel E. Fitzgerald, age 79, of Gary, Indiana, passed away on June 24, 2022. Ethel was a Jasper High School graduate and member of St Joseph Catholic Church. Ethel loved visiting the church when she would visit her family in Jasper. Ethel loved spending time with her family. She loved being a grandma and a great grandma more than anything. Ethel was the sweetest and most stubborn woman you would ever meet. Those who knew her loved her dearly. She had a huge heart and never failed to let you know how much she loved you. Her famous quote that we will never forget is “love ya’ll grandma”.
Ethel is preceded in death by her parents and her 3 brothers, her loving husband of 54 years Norwood L. Fitzgerald and their son John L. Fitzgerald. As well as, her great grandson Mason Hawkins.
Ethel leaves behind many loved ones, she is survived by her loving son and daughter in law Norty and Lori Fitzgerald. Her beloved grandchildren: Julie (Steve) Burris, Jason Fitzgerald, Brandy (Garry) Campbell, Amanda (Dave) Hawkins, Brittney Farmer, Brandon (Mandi) Slaughter, and Wade Roberts.
Ethel also leaves behind her beloved great grandchildren: Courtney and Andrew Burris; Mackenzie, Garrett and Reese Campbell; Katie, Kennedy and Kayson Hawkins; Rory and Carson Farmer and Walker Roberts.
Ethel also leaves behind her beloved sister Margie Sermersheim, her goddaughter Nicole Lampert and her best friend/sister in law Mary Kuper.
Friends are invited to visit with the family on Thursday, June 30, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Calumet Park Funeral Chapel. Funeral Service immediately following visitation at 12:00 PM.
