Eleanor Mae (Leffert) Klevickas, 91, of Merrillville, Indiana, passed away peacefully on December 26, 2024. She was born in Bourbon, Indiana, on April 25, 1933, to Charlotte and
Maurice Leffert. Preceded in death by her husband Mamertas (Mike) Klevickas, her parents, and three brothers, Max, Carl, and Steve. She is survived by her three sons, Dennis (Kristie)
Klevickas, Crown Point, Indiana, Randy (Denise) Klevickas, East Lansing, Michigan, and Michael (Melanie) Klevickas, McCordsville, Indiana: seven grandchildren; Bradley, Ellen, April, Ryan,
Erin, Trey, Karys: six great grandchildren, Emma, Mia, Darwin, Landon, Cora, Claudia: along with many relatives and friends.

Eleanor spent her early life on the farm in Marshall County, Indiana before moving to Merrillville with her parents and brothers. She came from a long lineage of farmers residing in
Marshall County dating back to the 19th century. She graduated from Merrillville High School with the class of 1951. Eleanor married U.S. army Sargent Mamertas Klevickas on December
29th , 1951, at her parents’ home on Marshall St. in Merrillville. They spent their early marriage years at Fort Campell, Kentucky, where their first son Dennis was born in 1953. Soon after,
they returned to Merrillville after Mamertas was discharged. They resided in Merrillville for the balance of their lives. Early on Eleanor was a homemaker devoted to raising their family. In the mid-1960’s she was a secretary at Salk Elementary School in Merrillville where her sons attended. Later in life she became an avid bowler and belonged to a league with numerous friends, winning several tournaments throughout Indiana. She enjoyed fishing and picking mushrooms throughout her life, and playing bingo in her later years. Eleanor assisted with organizing her high school class
reunions and attended each one. She was very active with her husband at American Legion- Post 289 where she served as their secretary for many years. Both participated often at ceremonies and memorials at the Calumet Park Cemetery and helped place American flags on hundreds of veterans’ grave sites.

Visitation will be held on Monday, January 6, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM, at the Calumet Park
Funeral Chapel, 7535 W Taft St, Merrillville, Indiana. A memorial service and celebration of life
will be held at 1:00 PM at the same location, followed by being laid to rest at the nearby
Calumet Park cemetery next to Mamertas in the veteran’s section.
