Elaine Phillips Obituary

Elaine Phillips (nee Kovich), age 87, of Flossmoor, Illinois passed away peacefully Tuesday, October 7, 2025. Elaine was born and raised in Gary, Indiana by her parents, Ida and John Kovich.

Elaine will always be remembered for her passionate and enthusiastic thoughtfulness and generosity. She was a gourmet cook; a warm and welcoming hostess; an animal lover; a doting grandmother; and a fiercely devoted wife, mother, sister and daughter.

Elaine Phillips was preceded in death by her parents, John and Ida Kovich, and her brothers Robert “Bobby” and John Kovich. She is survived by her loving husband David Phillips, her sister Maureen Kovich, her daughters Lynn and Jean Phillips, and her grandchildren Tyler and Ryan Gully.

Services for Elaine will be private. Elaine was loved by many and she will be truly missed. Elaine was entrusted in Calumet Park Funeral Chapel’s care, Merrillville, Indiana. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to your favorite animal rescue organization.
