REMEMBERING

Edward Ronald Lash

2023

Edward “Ron” Lash, age 79, unexpectedly passed away on Wednesday, January 4, 2023.

Ron is a veteran and served in the Army National Guard, 113th Engineer Battalion Unit for six years with an Honorable Discharge.

Ron retired from Vidimos, Inc in 2005 where he was a Local 20 Sheet Metal worker. He kept busy in retirement doing handyman projects. If you knew him, he probably either fixed, replaced or built something for you. Doing things for others gave him so much joy. To know Ron was to love Ron!

He was a very generous and compassionate human being. He enjoyed meeting and talking to people no matter where he was. Ron lived for making new relationships, which put a true smile on his face.

Ron was the true definition of family man. He enjoyed spending as much of his time as he could with his family. He was always there to love, support and assist his kids; both in their youth and as adults. He found great joy and happiness when he was able to use his skills to assist his kids with household projects. Most recently his time was spent with his wife and grandchildren. He loved his boat and would take fishing trips to Minnesota and Wisconsin, watch the grandkids play sports as well as play board games with his grandkids.

Ron loved living in Marion Woods. He built his dream home there 51 years ago. To say he had many good neighbors is an understatement. The subdivision created an extended family for everyone that has lived there. The famous fish fries and the Christmas “big burn” bonfires were two of their annual traditions. So many wonderful memories were made there. Ron also met up each week with his friends at Al’s Tap for Miller Time. He believed in enjoying life to its fullest.

He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Vickie; children, Kurt (Candice), Keith (Heather) and Ami (Casey); grandchildren, Riley, Hudson, Colton, Mia, Raegan and Carly; mother, Marcella; sister, Denise; sister-in-law, Kathy and MaryAnn.

Preceded in death by his father, Edward and Sister, Donna.

Friends may meet with the family on Sunday, January 8th from 2-6 PM at Calumet Park Funeral Chapel, 7535 Taft Street, Merrillville, IN. Prayer services at 3 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday, January 9th, 10 AM at Our Lady of Consolation, 8303 W. Taft Street, Merrillville. Interment at Memory Lane. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
