Edward J. Nemergut, 93, of Merrillville, IN, passed away peacefully in his sleep on October 15, 2025. He was born August 23, 1932 in Colver, PA to Joseph and Anna, now deceased.

He moved to Portage, IN in 1949. He attended Portage High School where he played football on the school’s very first team. He served in the Army from 1952-1954. He met the love of his life, Shirley Sulich in 1955, now deceased. They married in May of 1956 and were married for 45 years. He retired from US Sheets Tin Mill after 35 years.

He loved to fish, spend time with family and his grandchildren. He never missed any pf the grandchildren’s sporting events.

He was a very loving and laid back guy. He loved to help his family in any way.

He is survived by his children: Anna (late Robert) Bish, Edward Jr. (Mary), Kathleen (Joe) Atkosh, and Karen (Duff) Rossman; 10 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded inn death by his sister Marget and his brothers: Joe and Ralph.
