Dusan Andjelich, age 66, of Valparaiso, IN, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 18, surrounded by family after a long battle with cancer.
Dusan is survived by his wife of 41 years Dusanka; two children: Kristen (Rory) Elinkowski of Valparaiso and Milan Andjelich; eleven grandchildren: Rory, Landen and Bryan Elinkowski; Leah, Ian, Isaac, Leilani, Olive, Paris,Delta, and Israel Andjelich; one sister: Milka Popovich; three brothers: Jovo Andjelich, Milan (Gail) Andjelich, and Elijah (Betsy) Andjelich; brother-in-law Dusan Duvnjak; sister-in-law’s Radmila Miljus, and Mila Zole; several cousins, nieces and nephews and Kumovi. Dusan is also survived by his dear friends: George and Christine Georgian.
Dusan was preceded in death by his parents: Jovo and Jeanine Andjelich; Brother-in-law: Vasilije (Vaso) Popovich. Mother and Father- in-law: Milos and Danica Duvnjak.
Dusan was born June 18, 1957 to the late Jovan (Jovo) and Jeanine Andjelich (nee Gouverneur). He graduated from Lew Wallace High School in 1975. After graduation he went to work at Inland Steel for 33 years. He was a proud lifelong member of St. Elijah Serbian Orthodox Cathedral and served as President of the choir. He was also a member of the Free Masons. Dusan was an avid hunter and loved watching sports on television, especially his beloved White Sox. Above all, Dusan enjoyed spoiling and spending time his grandchildren. He was often described as having a heart of gold with his contagious smile and genuine care for others. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Visitation will be held Thursday, September 21, 2023 at 11 a.m. at St Elijah Serbian Orthodox Cathedral, 8700 Taft St., Merrillville, IN. Funeral Services following the visitation will begin at 12 Noon. V. Rev. Aleksandar Novakovic, officiating. Interment St Sava Holy Cross Orthodox Cemetery, Merrillville, IN
