REMEMBERING

Diane Towry

1951

-

2025

Diane (Littrell) Towry, 74, of Merrillville, went home to her Lord and Savior on Sunday, August 17, 2025, at her home. She was born on January 25, 1951, in Toledo, OH, to the late Presley E. Littrell and Elsie K. (Ghrigsby) Littrell, who survives.

Diane is survived by her children, Christina (Tony) Grutzius, Kathleen Towry, and Matthew (Amy) Littrell; siblings, Stan (Evelyn) Littrell, and Gwen Lenning; mother, Elsie Littrell; her beloved Living Grace Church family; and a loving host of extended family, friends, and acquaintances.

In addition to her father, Diane was preceded in death by her adored pups, Smokey, and Kado.

Diane worked as a school aide for Merrillville Community Schools for over 30 years, assisting with various day-to-day activities and programs students would participate in. In her earlier years, she notably worked a paper route in Merrillville for many years.

Diane was a lifelong member of Living Grace Church in Merrillville, being heavily devoted to her faith and fellowship. She adored her colleagues and loved to spread the good word with all those around her, always singing along to songs and participating in Sunday church services.

In her spare time, Diane could be found enjoying the outdoors while tending to her yard or garden. She was also known to love a good garage sale, hosting many for herself, others, and her church over the years.

Diane will best be remembered as a generous, kind, and selfless woman. She would go out of her way to help anyone in need, even tending to the elderly throughout her life. Diane possessed a big heart and a hard work ethic, passing these traits on to loved ones near or far. She, along with all the love and joy she shared, will be dearly missed by those whose hearts she touched throughout her life.

Services for Diane will be held on Monday, August 25, 2025, at Calumet Park Funeral Chapel, 7535 Taft Street, Merrillville, IN 46410, with visitation from 10 AM to 12:30 PM, and a funeral service to begin at 12:30 PM. Pastor Chad Cook of Living Grace Church will officiate. Burial will immediately follow funeral services at Calumet Park Cemetery in Merrillville, IN.

Diane was always welcoming and truly interested in what was going on with you. My Moving away from Merrillville didn’t stop her from greeting me like a long lost friend when I would be in town. Diane will be greatly missed.

I went to Salk while Mrs. Towry was a school aide there. She was kind to all of the kids, and kept us in line haha! When I got older, I loved seeing her at church. She always greeted me with a hug. I pray she rests in peace and I hope to be as loving a woman as she was.
