Christine “Tini” DeBoer, age 90, of Saint John, IN was peacefully welcomed home into the arms of her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, September 10, 2024.

She is survived by her children: John (Denise) DeBoer, Judy (Joel) Steigerwalt, Jeff (Judy) DeBoer, and Jodi (Mark) Smit; cherished grandchildren: Kari, Yon, Joel, Jeff, Jay, Jennifer, Danielle, Erika, Joel, Leslie, Josh, and Be: 24 great grandchildren; siblings: Gerrie (late)Ron) Natelborg, Anneke (late Jeff) Brandsma, brother-in-law Don Saxsma, brother-in-law Don Dykstra, and sister-in-law Tena Poortinga.

Preceded in death by her husband, Elmer DeBoer, parents: John and Elizabeth Fortuin; sister: Bette Saxsma and her grandson, Joshua DeBoer.

At the age of 14, in 1948 after WWII, Tini immigrated to the United States, having been born and raised in Abcoude, Netherlands. She was a graduate of Illiana Christian High School and went on to faithfully work for the Bank of Highland for over 25 years. She was a long time member of Community United Reformed Church in Schererville, IN where she attended Ladies Bible Study and actively volunteered with Divine Hope Bible Seminary Prison Ministry. Tini loved to knit and crochet, play pinochle, Bunco, and Bingo with her friends at Park Place, play words with friends on her iPad, and watch the Cubbies. Everyone loved Grandma Tini and she loved everyone! She will be truly missed.

A visitation will take place on Monday September 16th, 2024 from 3:00pm to 6:00pm, at Community United Reformed Church 8405 Alexander Street  Schererville, IN.  Memorial Service to follow at 6:00 pm. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Divine Hope Bible Seminary or Mid-America Reformed Seminary. There will be a private interment at Calumet Park Cemetery.
