Charlene Kruse

2023

Charlene Kruse, of DeMotte, passed away peacefully with her family at her side on Wednesday, February 15, 2023. She was 83 years old.

Charlene was a loving mother, grandmother, wife, sister and friend who lived to care for others.  She never knew a stranger and had a big heart for animals, spending a lot of her time volunteering with PAWS.  She was hard working and always put the needs of others before her own.  She enjoyed the simple things in life and adored being outside working in her garden and watching the wildlife.

She is survived by her cherished children: William, Victoria “Vicki” (John), and Armin; her treasured grandchildren, Julie Bronisz and Candace Kruse; many dear neighbors and friends; and a host of furry, four legged friends.  She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Armin; her parents, James and Charlotte Ford; and her sisters, Barbara Levato and Janice Kozubal.

Charlene will forever be remembered for her immense compassion and strength, facing and surviving difficult times with grace and resolve.  She will be fiercely missed by all who were blessed to know her.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 18, 2023 at 1:00 PM with visitation from 10:00 AM until time of service at Calumet Park Hobart Portage Chapel (370 North County Line Road, Hobart, Indiana)  In lieu of flowers, please make donations to PAWS or an animal rescue shelter in your area.  For more info, call 219-940-3791.

My sweet Aunt Charlene. How can one person’s soul be filled with so much kindness? It was impossible to be around you and not smile, laugh, and experience such generosity. My family’s heart breaks for my cousins, but I will try and find comfort in knowing the three Ford girls (and their guys) are finally back together.
