Carol Ann (Jones) Hutchinson, 86, of St. John, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 18, 2026, at her home surrounded by loving family. She was born on May 15, 1940, in Herrin, IL, to the late William Everett and Albina (Nava) Jones.
Carol is survived by her children, Lisa (James) Lange, Richard (Debbie) Hutchinson, and Jeffrey Hutchinson; grandchildren, Adam (Amanda) Hutchinson, Derek (Rachel) Hutchinson, and Lily (Ian Forsyth) Hasler; great-grandchildren, Tyler Hutchinson, and Caleb Hutchinson; and sisters, Mary Lou Cramer, and Cynthia Jones.
In addition to her parents, Carol was preceded in death by her loving husband, Cecil Bruce Hutchinson; sister, Doris Ballard; daughter-in-law, Debbie Hutchinson; and brothers-in-law, Richard Cramer, and Alvin Ballard.
Carol worked as a beautician for over 30 years and as a travel agent for her own business, Ports of Call, in Lansing, IL for over 20 years.
Carol was a wonderful cook and baker, famously known for her candies she would create during the Christmas season. She also enjoyed travelling the world alongside her husband, Cecil.
Carol will best be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
In accordance with Carol’s wishes, a private cremation has been chosen. Calumet Park Funeral Chapel of Merrillville has been entrusted with Carol’s arrangements.
