Boris Velovski, age 83 of Crown Point passed away peacefully with his sons by his side on May 2, 2025. He arrived in America in 1958 and he and his father Metodija Velovski were the original founders of the first Macedonian Church in Gary Indiana, S.S. Peter and Paul. He married the love of his life Vera Velovski here and they were blessed with two sons, Tony and Rick. He served in the Gary Police department for 20 years and was a proud retiree of the department. He also served in the United States Army and was released with an honorable discharge.
Boris is preceded in death by his wife, Vera Velovski; his parents, Metodija and Slavka Velovski; his nephew, Nikola Petkovich; his grandparents, Stojce and Neda Blazevski; and sister in law, Gena Trajkoski.
Boris is survived by his two loving sons Tony and Rick Velovski; adored granddaughter, Olivia Velovski; sister, Menka Petkovich; brothers in law, Tale Petkovich and Najdo Trajkoski; and nieces, nephews, and many family members in the US, Canada, Macedonia, and Australia.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, May 6th, 2025 at 1230 PM at S.S. Peter and Paul Macedonian Orthodox Cathedral (9660 Broadway, Merrillville) with visitation starting at 11:30 AM. I’m sorry to learn of his passing. We shared many experiences together on the police dept. He will be missed and prayers to him and his family.
Love You Uncle.. I will miss your humor, intellect, great story telling from the old county & from here.. Uncle would not put up with anyone’s crap. He would tell it like it is…If I needed anything he would be there for me, I will never forget that….Your with Tetka Vera now..Rest In Peace Uncle..
