Betty J. Johnson, 66, of Gary, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, April 24, 2025.
She was a devoted wife to her high school sweetheart, Earl Johnson, with whom she would have celebrated her 50 anniversary this coming February; loving mother to Michael Johnson and Rebecca (Roger) Combs; devoted grandmother to Tyler (Emily) Hixon, Brandon Hixon, and Amie Combs; proud great grandmother to Tyler Hixon Jr. and Athena Hixon; dear sister to Glen “Butch” Moore and Barbara Moore; and beloved friend to a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
She is proceeded in death by her loving brothers Sherman, Ted, and Richard Moore; and loving sisters Peggy Adams, Janice Jenkins, and Beaulah Spradlin.
Betty was born in Ironton, OH, to Jack and Ida Jones – both of whom precede her in death. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who loved her family so much. Betty was a caretaker to many, but nothing brought her more joy than raising and caring for her babies and grandbabies. She will be tremendously missed and fondly remembered by all who were blessed to have known her.
Visitation will be Wednesday, April 30, 2025, from 10 AM until time of service at 1 PM at Calumet Park Funeral Chapel (7535 Taft Street, Merrillville). Interment to follow at Calumet Park Cemetery. For information, call 219-736-5840.
