The blessed lives of Christopher and Shirley Bettega will be celebrated jointly in a visitation and chapel service on Sunday, October 18, 2026. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until time of chapel service at 3:30 PM at Calumet Park Funeral Chapel (7535 Taft Street, Merrillville, Indiana).

Chris was born the only child to Christopher and Rosa Bettega in Radley, Kansas. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy who had been stationed for a time in the Philippines in World War 2. After his release from the military, he spent many years working as a lift truck mechanic.

Shirley was also born an only child to Albert and Irene Bohmer in Blue Island, Illinois. She and Chris married in June of 1949, and from that loving union came three devoted children: Christine (Gary) Leonard, Coleen (Richard) Urban, and Gary (Any Carmack) Bettega. Chris and Shirley were incredibly blessed to help welcome and know 8 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren as their family grew.

Chris and Shirley will be immensely missed and fondly remember by all who had known and loved them. They will be laid to rest privately at Calumet Park Cemetery in Merrillville, Indiana.
